I'm curious to know how high you have all flown your birds? I've never tried to reach the 15,500' service ceiling. I've never had a reason to, but I have been thinking about giving it a go one of these days. Mine has the O-200-A.

8,500' for me. On one of my transponder re-certs the avionics tech "pumped" my altimeter up to 16,000' and said that it was a little "sticky" at that altitude -- I said, "
no wonder -- it's never been up there!!".

Do it before the ADSB mandate. I have flown at 12,500 or a little higher. I used to photograph for the USDA over farm land.

8000 feet for me. It was so bumpy down low and I was seeing 65 or 70 across the ground it would have been a long flight and fuel stop in windy conditions if I didn’t climb. I was on top of a cloud layer for a while but clear at destination O200 for me not a long climb either it was cool weather

Flew my plane up to Laramie WY, down to Walden CO, then over Rabbit Ears pass towards Ft. Collins and home. I was up around 12.5-13K over the pass. Lycoming O-290 is great for high density altitudes!
Pic is located at end of runway in Walden.
