Wing Strut Damage/Repair?
Currently putting a 46 140 back together with a buddy and going thru all the pieces and parts. Please see attached photos of the wing strut attach point. It appears the original hole may have been to allow a tie down ring to pass thru (this photo shows the end of the LH strut where it would attach to the forward spar), but as you can see this hole has been damaged. Questions are this: 1. Is there a way to repair this/or does it need repair? 2. Is the structural integrity of the strut compromised by this damage? 3. If it can be repaired, who does this repairs and approximate cost to repair? 4. if this can't be repaired, and is damaged beyond repair, does anyone have any 46 struts for sale?
Thanks in advance for all your assistance.
Kind regards,
Todd Littfin

Re: Wing Strut Damage/Repair?
You are correct; that hole was threaded for a tiedown eye.
It may be a standard AN or MS fitting. Some fittings are numbered NAS354 - NAS362 but I don't know if you'll find the right one in there. If not, Univair makes replacement struts. I would contact them and see if you can purchase that fitting, then have a good welder put it in for you. Note that the angle of the bolt hole is critical as is the overall length from the bottom hole to the one in the fitting.
