Since you brought it up... The generator really should have one of its own. I don't think Cessna spec'ed one, but Continental does. The generator doesn't have a fan (like the alternator does) and so no airflow unless you force it.

Re: WTB: Oil Tank Baffle and oval plugs
I don't see an oil sump listed in the 120/140 IPC and the sump I have is approved per the Continental IPC for a C-90. What's the basis for stating that tank is not allowed? The 140A IPC lists the C-90 but also omits the actual sump tank and also omits the oil tank baffle. Curious...
Yes, I do have the blast tube but I do not have the extended lip. Any ideas where that could be sourced? My oil temps are reasonable but they do push hotter than I would prefer on particularly hot summer days although they have typically stayed ~100 degrees higher than the ambient temp.I Do you have the blast tube on the oil screen housing, and the extended lip on the bottom of the cowl? Both of them make a significant difference.

I actually am aware of that. I know the Continental installation manual specifies an air blast to the generator but nothing in the Cessna drawings I've seen indicates any plumbing to it. I don't have any other blast tubes or scuppers on my baffles to be routed to it either. It would require some modification. I figured the engine oil temps were a bit more of a priority than the generator.

I guess I should have said "In my opinion..." The Continental IPC says "To obtain correct replacement oil sump, order same part number stamped on upper surface of original sump mount flange. Also, give engine application." Also, Continental Service Information Letter SIL 00-7A lists only one dip stick applicable to C90's in any Cessna, including the 140A, and it fits the 5 quart tank. (Interestingly, they list two for the C85, one for the 5 quart tank and one for the 6 quart tank, but no mention of specific aircraft models.)
Another curiosity: they also list an O-200A Cessna application with a 5 quart tank...
Bottom line, there doesn't appear to be anything that allows up-sizing to the 6 quart tank, so, going by FAA precedence, if it's not specifically allowed, then it's not allowed...

Thanks John, it's always interesting going down these rabbit holes. I do see 2 different sumps for the C90 when I search for SIL 00-7A. One of the 2 references the 6 quart sump if I am reading the foot notes correctly.6643 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 7:07 amI guess I should have said "In my opinion..." Yeah, if you have a C85, an O200 or a Luscombe...

I'm missing the lower lip on my 120 cowling as illustrated in the summerization kit on the IPC. Does anyone know a source? Google didn't turn up anything.
