I am need of the left rudder spring for my 140.

Univair has them but the price is ridiculous.
Thanks,
Rick

I replaced my pair about six months ago. The left (long) one that I removed was broken and I had bent the end into a loop and used it for six or eight years. I felt no difference when I replaced the pair with new. If I can find them cover the postage and whatever extra that you would like to donate. I will try to remember to look for them tomorrow if you’re interested.
BTW, there aren’t very many aircraft parts that aren’t ridiculously priced.

That would be great Larry. Thanks.
I will PM you with my address if you find one.
And I am happy to send you ample reward.
I know aviation prices are high but over $150 dollars for a 3 inch spring is ridiculous.

As an "owner produced part"
, suggest you take one for comparison to the spring department of "Ace Aviation" for a close fit - may. take an adjustment ( as was mentioned above). Our local area stores have a large assortment that I have used for other projects, i.e. self fabricated landing gear testers for Bonanzas - calibrated against NIST standard. 2C

Yes, you can indeed use any old spring that is about the same tension. Problem is, both of these springs have the same tension, but one Of them has a longer hook than the other to make up for differing side to side dimensions. If they are not right, you will have to fly everywhere you go holding rudder one way or the other. BTDT. I would suggest you buy a pair of the correct springs to keep your plane properly rigged.
I learned this from the 120/140 gurus.
I spent the morning at the hangar and forgot to look for the springs. I have a few errands to run and I will go back and look.
My $0.02,

I posted the factory drawing for the rudder return springs in the tech section on Feb 18, 2019. Search "Rudder return springs".

I only found the one that used to be long but broke. The end is bent around so it can be used, but it is too short. Maybe you could make a ring to lengthen it but it wouldn’t be legal.
