Door hinge pin
I went out to the hangar today and opened the passenger door and the upper hinge came apart, looks like I lost the hinge pin at some point in the last couple days. I looked in the parts manual and it just lists the hinge assembly. I assume it is just music wire, but I wanted to check with the collective wisdom on the board.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Re: Door hinge pin
Believe it or not, there is a MS number for hinge pin stock: MS20253. Hopefully, someone will chime in with a couple of inches you could have for short money. (I have a project coming up in the next week or so and may have some left after...)

Re: Door hinge pin
Am I correct in thinking, once the wing root fairing is removed, the upper hinge pin should just tap out (upwards) when using a suitable drift?
Lower hinge pin is no problem at all, but the upper one is proving more difficult, and I’m a bit reluctant to hit it too hard for fear of spraining the entire hinge assembly.
Many thanks.

Re: Door hinge pin
upper hinge should be screwed on both the door and fuse? why not remove hinge and service in vice or bench?

Re: Door hinge pin
Remove the hinge, when replacing the pin cut it a little short and after installation take a pair of dikes and crimp the end of the barrel to keep the pin from coming out.

Re: Door hinge pin
Make your own door pin out of stainless steel weld rod. Crimp ends as Jody said or shape ends and easily replace down the road. Agree on removing door to do pins….way easier.

Re: Door hinge pin
I think if memory serves that I used an aircraft length drill bit, my hinge had some wear so I found a drill bit that would fit and cut it off, aircraft length bits are long so I used the smooth end of course.
