Actually, the holes in the wings are called out in one of the early service bulletins, SLN-11. You need to be able to inspect the nuts on the drag wires. IIRC there were several early service letters dealing with wing recovering, so there may be more holes called out. Check in the library for more info.

Looks like SLN-39 cancels and supersedes SLN-11

I hadn't bought any in about 10 years, but I found this in the local grocery store today. Even says "Old Fashioned" on it!

Thanks John, I bought them when in Calais ME. They are round just like the old ones. I do have a few "old style" that my wife bought at a yard sale. Will compare the two. The old style are so potent I can't imagine putting them in your dresser drawers. A friend told me he tried the electronic noise device, came into his shop and saw a mouse sitting on it.

I bought a packet of cheap athletic socks. Put a handful of moth balls in a sock, tie it shut, and stick it inside near the gear legs. Bob is my uncle...

I have used dryer sheets with good results when the plane was going to be down for a period of time...just got to remember to remove them!

I've had reasonable luck setting mouse traps by each gear leg. Each winter I get a "customer" or two.

Did not work for me. They marked them...

Too maintenance intensive. ;)

I imagine them drawing lots to see who has to spring the trap so the rest can do whatever they do.

Would someone have a picture of an uncovered/unskinned wing structure? Parts manual shows 2 lightening holes between each nose rib on the main spar. I'm wondering if this continues to the wing tip. I'm sizing up where to put more inspection holes to check for mouse nests.

Should anyone be interested, I compared the "new" Old Fashioned Moth Balls to some I had kept sealed up from the old days. The older Moth Balls are much more potent than the "old Fashioned " ones on the market now. The "old Fashioned" are round and white but that's it. Used my Wife for a guinea pig , held an old,old moth ball in front of her and she immediately turned her head away. Tried the new "old Fashioned" and it had a much lesser effect. I owe her big time now for this field test of moth balls. She does fly in the 120 and would not want a mouse looking at her.
