I had my carb rebuilt by this company in Illinois. Superior job. Don't know if he's still in business.

Re: Stromberg NA-S3A Rebuild
Stromberg Specialist seems to be out of business. I recently got mine done by Central Cylinder in Omaha under $500 and less than 3 week turn around. Works well so far.

Re: Stromberg NA-S3A Rebuild
Central Cylinder did mine too about a year and a half ago. I am back to having a very slow drip if I leave the fuel selector on. I'm very pleased with the mixture control they re-installed.

mine drips too, but i have not tried turning off the selector valve. not too worried about the drip, but the carb hasn't been off the aircraft in 20+ years so i'm thinking it could use a good looking over. i will try central as the stromberg specialist is no longer taking oders. thanks for everyones input!

Re: Stromberg NA-S3A Rebuild
unlike a "normal" airplane carb, the only thing between the fuel valve and a dripping carburetor is how perfectly matched the steel needle and brass seat are in the bowl of carb.

Re: Stromberg NA-S3A Rebuild
That's pretty normal... The only difference is that today "normal" carbs use a neoprene-like material on the tip of the needle. Stromberg did, also, until there appeared a bad batch of needles (from parts unknown) and thereafter, the Stromberg neoprene tipped needle was forever damned.tonycondon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 7:52 pm the only thing between the fuel valve and a dripping carburetor is how perfectly matched the steel needle and brass seat are in the bowl of carb.

Re: Stromberg NA-S3A Rebuild
Would you be willing to post the log entry for the rebuild? Mine generally does not leak, but I do move the selector to off at shutdown. Interesting to see that it is recommended practice even after a rebuild.tonycondon wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 3:37 pm Central Cylinder did mine too about a year and a half ago. Re: Stromberg NA-S3A Rebuild
It should be standard procedure on any gravity fuel system. Given enough time, all float valves (even those found in "normal" carburetors) will eventually fail. Gravity, on the other hand, has been demonstrated to be 100% reliable since the beginning of time.
