I am working on a 140 restoration project. It was converted to metal wings at some point. I am thinking about going back to cloth wings.
What is your opinion? Mistake?
What issues could I run into?
Thanks

Re: From Metal back to Cloth wings?
Do the wings have the OEM drag wires? (...believe some STCs may have removed?) If not, their availability may be at issue. Also, fabric attachment...OEM clips may not be available and, if they are, are the original clip holes OK? If clips can't be used, there are STCs for screws and pop rivets...but that's still an issue to consider. There may be other challenges but it is doable and definitely has been accomplished & maybe someone who has done will still wade in with advice. Keep us posted! Mac

I'm told rib stitching (Stits?) is an option also, but someone is going to have to evaluate the condition of the ribs.

I went back to cloth wings. No regrets. They've held up nicely over the past 24 years(almost always hangared) and the weight reduction and better airfoil is appreciated.
