C140 Alternator 337

Post by air2jjs »

Hello All,
New to the association.. A&P/IA and volunteering with a youth aviation program. We just received a C140 and after my initial look-over, of the many items I noticed is that the engine is equipped with an experimental aircraft alternator. Looks like a B&C 200g alternator. I’ve ordered the FAA CD docs hoping somebody has completed a field approval already. If not, can anybody offer info on any known previous 337s on this alteration?
Thanks for any help.

One last thing: the association advertises a technical document for sale concerning these aircraft?

Welcome to the family. Thinking there is a STC for B&C? and the tech manual is on the home page under marketplace than under technical materials.

Contact B&C directly. They should know if there is one. There didn't 'used to be one', that doesn't mean there isn't one today.

"Plane Power" had an STC, but that is a completely different unit.

If you don't have an STC or a 337, Leave a message up here, some memember have them and you may be able to borrow their paperwork to assist in a Field approval

Two 140s on the field here with the 200G (via "field approval"). Incidentally, they work well with TXP, Navcom, ADSB in/out, strobe, LED nav and (retractable) landing light. Both of ours proven for years. Glad to share copy of the 337 -- PM me. I seem to recall that their 30 amp model does have an STC(?) FWIW. B & C's website has a note to "contact us about an STC'd version" (of the 30 amp, I assume).
