Hey gang,
Does this mean there is a leak in the seal behind the gauge? It appeared like this a week or so ago and the level has stayed the same.
Thx,
Justin

Re: Fuel Gauge Leak
That’s a liquid inside the gauge, in case that wasn't apparent.

Re: Fuel Gauge Leak
I did an article on those gauges but can't figure which newsletter it's in. Here's a pic of what may be happening to yours. Folks get too excited when they find a leak and crank down on the 4 screws harder, which causes cracks in the aluminum housing. You may get lucky by changing out the seal in the back (https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... kkey=25712). They get too hard with age. The corners of the housing are un-supported hence the cracks.
On the main website page look under Resources-Newsletters and find #413 Winter Newsletter. There's a ditty on the fuel gauges that may be useful.
When you remove the gauge check for cracks.
Your gauge does not appear to have the 'no take off' markings.

Re: Fuel Gauge Leak
Thanks, David. Must be a hardened seal since I haven’t touched those screws since I’ve owned the thing. I’ll order 2 and pay more for shipping than the seals, but well worth it.
I appreciate you referencing the Tech Talk article. That was very helpful in understanding how the only thing works.
Will check for those cracks.
