Will try to find a pic in my "file", Joe. I no longer have one on my exhaust as I have heavier SS pipes that actually required further mod for tailpipe support. I do have a close neighbor with the bracket on his '46...so, if I can't find my related pics I'll snap one of his and send ASAP. Mac
I don't have a picture, but, there are 6 studs in the engine case that the flange of the oil tank attaches to. The aft-most one (which actually goes in the accessory housing, not the engine case), is where the bracket attaches. It is easier to attach if you get MS21042 metal stop nuts with reduced hex.
Reviving this thread to say that I, too, am missing this support structure from my 1946 140 (sn 10109, C85-12F with original straight pipes). I'll see if Aircraft Spruce can still sell the Wag Aero part mentioned above, but does anyone have one of these lying around in a parts collection that they'd be willing to sell me?
On installation, I assume the clamps capture the bottom/aft ends of both exhaust pipe shrouds against the exhaust pipes? I can see witness marks in the aluminum where a band used to be.
Thanks for the info on the wrap inside the clamps. Unfortunately, Aircraft Spruce says E-487-000 was made by Wag Aero's sister company Aero Fabricators. Aircraft Spruce didn't purchase them and they don't appear to exist as a company anymore (at least via Google search). So I think that path is a dead end. Any chance there's enough dimensional information or pictures of these things to serve as the basis for an owner-produced part?

Not sure what E-487-000 is/was. [Edit] Figured it out from Victor's response...
The original heat muffs had asbestos material everywhere the muffs clamped tightly to the pipes. It both sealed the gap and protected the pipes and muffs from abrasion. It is not listed as a separate part. Get some header wrap from an auto accessories supplier and safety wire it to the inside of the muffs where the clamps go.

Again, good info on using header wrap at the attachment points, but I'm looking for pictures or information to either source or make the exhaust support bracket as it is missing from my airplane. Any chance you'd be able to take some pictures of yours as-installed the next time you're at the airport?
