The window will go up to the wing and stay there until landing.
We used to open it while doing aerial photograph so we could get a better picture by not shooting thru the window.
Spent hours with it open with no ill effects.

Re: Window latches
Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try when the hot weather returns.

Re: Window latches
I can verify it rises and just hangs under the wing... We used to do that when in flower bombing contests..

Re: Window latches
I flew with the window open tonight, it was awesome. Surprisingly not as windy as I expected.

Also, to add to this discussion, my windows have VW bus latches, they work great. They don't prop the window, but as discussed the wind holds it up.

Re: Window latches
I have the same, they are great.
If you look carefully at the picture, you will see the main bracket is U shaped and it is as thick as the thickness of the window frame and you rivet it to the frame. Easy, not original like the real Cessna latch, but I like to see the window wide open with the elbow outside.
Great picture.

Re: Window latches
Is a 337 necessary to use the VW latch?
Thanks.
Steve

Re: Window latches
Ahh, okay. Thanks for pointing that out, I can see that it's attached to the frame. As Steve asked did you cover the installation with a 337?
