I think I measured close to 9' the other day, will check Friday. I was wondering about trailering a fuselage with the wings off....

Anything over 102" is considered a "wide load".

That said, I know a guy who regularly trailers Ercoupes and I can't believe they're any narrower.

I once A guy I know once tied a 140 tailwheel to a small trailer and towed it on its gear through suburban Boston... (wings off.)

When I was 12 or 13, we put my dad’s Ercoupe on a trailer and towed it from his house to the airport after he restored it. The verticals were just enough over 8 feet wide to be technically illegal.

When I was 15, I may or may not have sat in the bed of a truck monitoring the straps on a 170 tailwheel as it was towed on its gear, backwards, several miles down a US highway. It can be done! :)

Ok. Thanks you all. I've a 1946 fuselage with no tail and will be moving it some as I'm working on it at home in a shipping container. It looks like a flatbed trailer will take it the 8 MLS to the airport.
