I acquired (spent mega $) for a new Lightspeed headset only to find it eats batteries very fast and when I fly with it in my 195, I have a terrible (!) squeal but not the same when I use it in the 120. Thoughts? I suspect the Lightspeed issue in the 195 is the airplane ignition system with the Jake so I’ll continue to use the Bose in the 195 and the Mega ($) Lightspeed headset in the 120. Oh; in my case, if I remove the battery holder of the Lightspeed headset, the batteries last longer suggesting the Bluetooth is “still active” and seeking a signal? Now, I’m just a pilot, but my ADM assessment is just that: a pilots perspective.
Comments please if you have a Lightspeed headset?

Re: Lightspeed headset with blue tooth
Hi,
Could you please indicate which Lightspeed model you purchased?
The only model I have heard eats batteries is the PFX. I have the Zulu 3 and have not had any problems with short battery life.
I'm not understanding what you mean by removing the battery holder makes the batteries last longer. On the Zulu 3, the battery holder/controller is not removable.
At any rate, Lightspeed stands behind their products. You might want to talk to them direct.

I don’t know the exact model and it’s in the airplane in my hangar but what I meant was I remove the battery holder from the headset and the batteries last longer. I even acquired the rechargeable battery pack and it doesn’t seem to help ? Perhaps I should contact Lightspeed direct ?

I have the Sierra model. I had around 90 hours on it and have only changed the batteries twice, once before a checkride (just in case), and once just because it felt like a long time had passed. Never had a battery drain or squeal issue.

Re: Lightspeed headset with blue tooth
I have Lightspeed Zulu 3 and 4 headsets that work well in my 140 and 195. The only thing I notice is I have more of what I'll call "windnoise" in the 195. It's a smooth steady whisper that seems airflow related. Batteries last a long time in both. The battery holder on the Zulu models I have are hard wired to the headset. Bluetooth has to be turned on separately from turning on the headset. I don't use bluetooth much since I prefer to listen to the engines and I generally don't make or receive phone calls while flying.
