I recently learned that Joy Warren, A long time member has passed away at 88 years old and I wanted to post some info, both for the many long time members that knew her and also to the many more than never had the opportunity to.

Joy was an early member, she and her husband Claire(deceased) joined the Association ………. I’m estimating in the late 1970’s.
Starting about 1981 she became the Newsletter publisher and assisted many an “editor” to keep the Newsletter moving. She attended all the conventions as well as Oshkosh. While at the conventions she would offer “personalized coffee mugs”’ with your aircraft picture on it. Joy was also responsible for printing the awards given at the conventions, with the recipient’s name embossed on the award.

Consistently, quietly, and without fanfare Joy provided a welcoming experience to countless members year in and year out. A wonderful lady that was quiet, un-assuming and surprisingly funny. Good hearted and beyond supportive of this fine association. As I think of all the members I’ve known over the decades, I would have to say no one person has done more for the association members than Joy Warren did.

Joy’s son Gus holds the McKenzie STC for the Lycoming engines installation for the 120/140 aircraft.
Note: the last picture is at the 2007 Michigan Convention.

Yes, Joy and her husband were great ambassadors for the assoc. When we needed the plastic instrument panel for our 1948 at OSH in the year 2005 she was the supplier. She also lettered the script on that panel for our plane, still today looks great. Many hours at the Type Table and I'm sure plenty more behind the scene too, its devotion for the people we meet and a little love for our aircraft. You'll be missed but as I look at my panel never forgotten.
