I have wheel pants, I've found two correct mounting plates. But I need the big axle nut extender.
The parts book specifies 0441130 for the wheel pant axle nut. This is the "extender" that juts out from the axle that creates the space for the wheel pant and is then bolted onto the wheel pant with an AN6-5A bolt.
The problem is there are many variations of the part number. There is 0441130-2 (which says its for a cessna 150, 172, and cessna 182), and they look identical from casual observation. Univair does have 0441130 - FOR $445 EACH!!!!!! (which is just highway robbery). There has to be an alternative. My questions are:
1) Does anybody have the dimensions of the 0441130 part (ie., is it 1 1/2" x 16 thread?)
2) Does the Grove nut fit our 140s and match the original 0441130? The Grove part is 5513 and fits the Grove 6.00 x 6 axle which is what I have
3) Does anybody know if 0441130-2 or -3 will work on our 140s?
Below is a photo of the original part called for (0441130):

Re: Correct Wheel Pant Axle Nut?
I've seen similar nuts on other Cessnas with shorter "snouts". You may be able to find them for a more reasonable price, and fashion an extender or a spacer.
All 1-1/2" axles are the same thread. (As far as I know).
Found this:

Looks like the ones I have. I can measure them tomorrow if you let me know in time.
120/140 and 170 used the same pants and nuts, as far as I know.

Re: Correct Wheel Pant Axle Nut?
John, that would be really useful. It seems the issue is the "snout" you referenced. I don't know how long it needs to be or what the original length was. Ebay has a bunch, but they're all suffixed with "-1" or "-2" or even a few "-3." The 140 parts book simply lists "0441130." I am betting the "-2" would work since it looks similar in snout length. If you can measure yours that would be REALLY helpful. If not, no worries. I will continue my sleuthing.
So far I have determined that the "snout" lengths are:
3.125"
2.372"
2.6"
I just don't know which one our birds use...
Thank you!

Hi Marc...if you don't get an answer sooner, I will be at the airport this weekend and can measure the axle nut for you.

Re: Correct Wheel Pant Axle Nut?
OK, it isn't easy to get an accurate measurement without removing the nut, but, I measured it two different ways. In either case I was measuring from the face of the bearing or the washer the nut was bearing on to the end of the snout. Measured one way I got 2.975" and the other way 2.842". I can say with absolute certainty it is longer than 2.6".
I would bet that the eBay items are the correct ones.

Thanks for the offer, Josh! I think what John sent me will work. It looks like the 3 inch is the way to go.
