Winterization Kit

I am in need of a winterization kit for our "new" 140. Is there anyone out there who would be able to make the covers for the two case cooling holes and the front grill shields? The cowl inlet covers are the same for the 120/140 and at least the early 170s.

I've read mixed reviews on the oil sump/tank covers in terms of if it really makes any sort of difference. The other items on the winterization kit seem totally logical but the cover doesn't look that substantial. Does anyone have any first hand experience to share if the cover is really worthwhile? I'm assuming if I have a sump heater that it would be a bad idea to put a cover on the sump?

I posted some updated information on winterization kits on another part of the forum. Brian Stansbury, 641-642-3151, is able to make the Grill Winterization Covers along with the Nose Cowl Vent Plugs. You will need to find/make and install the Grill Cover Springs as listed on pages 122 and 123 of the parts manual. According to the 170 information, the springs are make from 3/16 stainless steel wire (welding rod?) Information on making the springs can be found on the Cessna 170 site. He is selling the kits for $150.00.
Looking forward to getting my set installed on 140 "Marvin".

Quick correction. It has dawned on me that the 3/16 ss listed on the C170 drawing for the winterization kit refers to spring steel wire and not stainless steel. Sorry for any confusion. I'll try to post some pictures and soon as we get everything in place.

I was corrected again. One of our members says the wire is 3/32 and not 3/16. That makes much more sense.
As for being the same as 170 covers, call Brian. He measured both before making the set for me.
