Re: replacing side windows

Post by 6896 »

I am in the process of doing so myself. I got my windows from Cee Bailey, 0.080 thick gray tinted acrylic. I had to bevel the window edges with a shallow taper using a table router so the the Goodrich 1032 moulding (now R761485) fitted properly. The moulding is good for 0.080 thick supposedly, but it is hard to keep on without beveling. 0.062 thick windows would likely be easier to form the moulding. I made the moulding into a giant rubber-band-like assembly so it would stay on the window. I glued the butt join to made the band with Superglue just to hold the band together, but I did not glue to the window. I used masking tape to hold the window to the frame during installation. You have to work a bit to get everything centered so the moulding is equidistant from the edges around the perimeter of the window. Skylight installation is similar to rear windows.

On my right rear window, one has to take into account the order of bucking rivets since one rivet bucktail on window frame right 0412144-1 will be blocked by the upholstery retainer right 0411692-1

There is a decent video on Youtube for replacing the side door windows on a 150. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ekn263QNa7c
