I found one. Grove has a list of field Approvals on their website. My first search showed an error when trying to view the 337 for our airplane. Looking again, there are two lists. The second successfully opens a PDF with an original 337.

OK, YES!!! I am looking for 337 #000, so that I can put solid axles on my Cessna 140 S/N 1823.
Grove Axle Bolt Hole Template "Type 2" matches for axle part number 5016.

Help with source for 337, please! Would that not come with the axles from Grove?

I recently spoke with an engineer from the Chicago ACO. Apparently the ACO's do readily consider field approvals and "approve" the vast majority of them. (that are submitted) Grove has a field approval 337 on their website(or at least they did the last time I checked), you could copy that, make out your own and send it in. Chances are you would get it approved.

Spoiler alert, they will not approve Lithium batteries.

Thank you for all the data. The bolt pattern link and 337 links are invaluable... One of the bolt patterns matched what is on the airplane exactly. I did have to go back to the airport to measure the thickness of the landing gear so that I could order the correct bolt/washer/nut kit. The axles are out of stock at Grove and they report a 4-6 week backorder status. They will ship everything all together when the axles become available. Thank you for your help!

I ordered mine on March 11 and they reported no status on the axles. I guess they must have been waiting for a few more orders to make them. Looks like I'm still a month out..

Has anyone drilled out their gear legs for the 5/16" and 3/8" holes? Seems like a bad idea but I'm not sure what other options I have at this point. Grove told me this week they still don't have the 1/4" hole axles on their production schedule and they have no idea when they'll be able to fit them in. Worth a gear leg upgrade instead? What are the options there?

I know a guy who did it on a 170. He reported that the gear legs are very hard and it took several drill bits to do the job.

If you decide to go ahead, I'd be very careful to get the holes straight and not wallowed out oversize, and also be sure to chamfer the edges of the holes. Grinding the chamfers might be the best option.

It might prove easier to bush the holes in the axle instead.

That's what I was thinking, seems like a bad idea. Is there a way to safely bush the axle holes? I couldn't find any standard bushings that bring 5/16" and 3/8" down to 1/4" but maybe a machine shop can do it?

I guess there is 3/8" down to 1/4" but not 5/16" down to 1/4". So I'd have to drill out two of the holes up to 3/8" to use the bushing.
