part 22661

Post by 6673 »

Hi,

Anyone have a source for TCM part #22661, nut, elastic stop? Which are the nuts that hold the oil tank in place.

AN365-428A? I assume that the #22661's are superseded by the ANs and I do know that the OH shop used the certified ANs on my engine FWIW. Mac

I'm sure Randy has the answer, but, If I were making a substitution, I'd use an all metal nut (AN363). However, what I've used in the past is MS21042-4, which has a reduced hex and is a lot easier to get a tool on in the cramped space around the oil tank.

Another little "twist" on this -- the rear stud on my engine where the exhaust bracket is attached was still a drilled stud after the major. With a washer and the bracket fastened, the elastic stop nut "rested" over the drilled hole...and, almost predictably, with vibration eventually that's exactly where the stud broke. ...best I recall now, the drilled studs are no longer available.
