I'm still holding out for the STC on the tail beacon to comply with ADSB-Out. Any thoughts on installing it with field approval on a C-140? I heard some owners were doing that.

Re: Uavionix Tail Beacon
Someone at the convention said it was very close to approval (within a few weeks). I don't know if anyone has specifics on here but if you haven't contacted them, you might want to check to get a status update.

For what it's worth, Sporty's is reporting September 20th availability.
Fingers crossed! I have an Ercoupe owner inside the Boston Mode C veil waiting with bated breath. He cannot use the wing light version.

Thanks. Encouraging news! I'm inside the Detroit Class B veil. My 140 has strobes on the wingtips and the tail beacon is my first and cheapest choice.

Re: Uavionix Tail Beacon
I've been holding out as well, but my rebate expires on 10/27, so I can't wait much longer. I have a GTX 327, so I may just go with the GDL82.
For the record, they have shown availability dates multiple times and they have all busted. Going back to Jan 2019.
If you can find a friendly FSDO they might approve it, but ADSB is specifically stated as an item that requires TSO, so you might have some trouble. Although I think the TSO may be complete, just waiting on STC. You may have to prove that the "experimental" version meets the TSO.

Re: Uavionix Tail Beacon
I pre-ordered a Tail Beacon last year, and it's already on its way. Scheduled to arrive tomorrow. The uAvionix folks aren't wasting any time shipping out units!
