I have a c140 with an 0-290d that is coming up on overhaul. I was wondering if anyone has gotten an approval for the 0-320

I doubt it; I believe engines are one of the things HQ says no field approvals for. STC or bust.

Do you know of anyone who has gone down that route?

Wait, what am I missing? Why not just use the O-320 STC?

No, no joke. I'm 99-44/100% certain there is an STC. I'm thinking it was McKenzie. I think those STCs have been transferred to Gus Warren. I've seen one. It was a single seater for all practical purposes.
[Edit] Did some checking and I couldn't find it. I did find one for the Cessna 150, though. SA1034SW. That might be a good place to start for a field approval. C85 -> O200 -> 150 -> O320...

I flew a Luscombe with an O-320 getting current in conventional gear airplanes.
Very robust performance.
Almost too much if you put the power in to fast.
I do not know if it was installed with an STC or field approval for it.

Keep us posted on how things go. When my O290D comes up for overhaul I'm going to look very carefully at the O320. Would love to develop an STC for one, but I don't even know where to start.
