Primer stripper

I am doing a total overhaul on a 1946, 140.

The strippers that I have tried worked ok to get the paint off but not doing a good job on the primers.
There are both grey and green primers that I would like to get off.

Does anyone know of a brand of stripper that will work to get these off?

Try acetone and elbow grease. Scotch-brite helps but will leave scratches in the surface. Or, try putting the stripper on and covering it with Saran wrap so it doesn't dry out. Let it sit for several hours.

Sounds like epoxy primer. Might try some MEK just in a small area to test - MEK is very toxic so protect yourself - try John C acetone first. Acetone is finger nail polish remover but very watered down now.

I can attest to that, I tried everything ( stripper, acetone, MEK, heat, etc) and was not able to even put a dent in some cowl grills I got from a friend of mine that were painted with Imron. Granted I didn't do the saran wrap John suggests, that might have done it. I ended up getting them bead blasted clean, which worked fine although left them with a slightly rough finish.

I had / have the same issues. Had to plastic bead blast the instrument panel covers. On the gear legs, struts and other metal areas, we are just smoothing it out and painting over it. So far, we've been able to get all the paint off the fuselage and control surfaces with JASCO Premium Paint & Epoxy Remover. The plastic beads reduce the weakening of the Alclad surface. Steve
