Throttle and carb heat cables

Post by 6781 »

I have a 46 140. I would like to replace the throttle cable and carb heat cable. Before I order from Aircraft Spruce or McFarland, etc. does any one have suggestions of where I can acquire the two, and or any insight?

Thanks

I installed one a couple of months ago. I think it came from McFarlane. It was a good fit.
I will confirm with the owner as he bought it and had me install. I think he is out of town for the next few days.

I checked with him and it is a McFarlane cable. He ordered his from Aircraft Spruce Part No. 05-00272. The McFarlane number is MC0411091-7, The Spruce number is AS0411091-7. These fit 120's, 140's and 140A's. If your original knob is in good shape it will fit in place of the new knob. Not sure who has the best price.

I'm also interested in replacing my Throttle Cable. Here are a few pictures of the assembly that is currently in the airplane. Do you think the McFarlane part is a drop in replacement?

Thanks,

Looks like the same one I took out. The one I installed fit fine. Another friend at the same airport replaced his with that part and it was just right.

Today we installed a McFarlane Throttle cable in the 120. It fit perfectly, and is much smoother than the old cable.

It seems to have one curious feature. The knob and shaft can be rotated freely when the friction lock is loose (the jam nut is tight). Is this correct? The old one did not rotate in this way.

I'm planning to give McFarlane a call on Monday, but I wondered if anyone else made this observation?

Thanks for any help!
