What have folks done and what should avoid. This would be a power receptacle for my tablet/phone. Thanks
Joe

Re: Installing a lghter/power socket
Cigarette lighters are to be fused at the battery, not the power buss.

Re: Installing a lghter/power socket
Roger that Randy. I was wondering if anyone has a particular socket they have used and if they went 337 route or logbook entry. I would think a logbook entry would be appropriate. Thoughts?

Re: Installing a lghter/power socket
I need to install one in my 140 as well. Could you expand on the installation a little more please? Fused at the battery? Which side of the solenoid? A wire run all the way from the battery with an inline fuse all the way to the panel? Wire size?
Thanks, Brent
Thanks, Brent

Re: Installing a lghter/power socket
Most people would like the port to remain hot with the master off, so it would go to the battery side of the solenoid. It has been quite a while since I did my last one. I think I used #12 wire with the inline fuse at the battery. The fuse needs to be a lower amperage than the capacity of the wire.

Wouldn't AD 79-08-03 and AC 43.13 shed some light on the subject???

Re: Installing a lghter/power socket
I'm pretty certain any time there is a cigarette lighter in our aircraft, that AD applies. I would recommend getting a Cessna receptacle and making a log entry stating the receptacle was installed and circuit protection was added.
