Search on this page re subject metal replacements, IIRC, there was a guy in the far northwest that made them, reasonable and possibly did the complete job. John C, can possibly find it in the archives. Yeah, I know, thanks Edd! Just learnng from the "Master"! Happy New Year!

Guess you added the archive info. One should read Mac Forbes - our recent past "gone west" significant contributor to the page, comment. Giving due credit to his note on the current issue, one could almost assest his comment as "if it 'ain't' broke don't fix it"!

Another point to consider, if this issue was critical, the FAA /Cessna would have issued an AD note. 2c

Tim helped me with rebuilding a replacement stabilizer, my riveting job was not stellar. We re-skinned and added the stiffeners. Tim is top notch when it comes to sheet metal work. He is located in at the Mulino Airport http://www.airnav.com/airport/4s9

Every one of these skins I have seen is cracked or bent where the elevator flexes at the root, just inboard of the inboard end of the reinforcing strip. It is visible here at the thin strip part around the square cutout area. It does not look structural at all, as it buckles upward and there is no rivet to hold it down where it buckles. I guess I question whether it is worth replacing the entire skin, given it is going to flex exactly the same way with a new skin and break again. Patching around the square with some cherrymax rivets and 032 aluminum seems like a reasonable fix. I already have the reinforcing channels installed, so no other reason to drill out the entire leading edge skin.
