An arm of a light sport aviation club based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has taken delivery of a Diamond DA40 trainer in Austria, the manufacturer announced.

Jazirah Aviation Club’s Sama Aviation will use the four-seat aircraft to train airline-oriented pilots as part of a newly established private pilot license program. It is expected to be in service at the school by the end of the year.

The aircraft delivered to Sama Aviation features a 168 hp Austro Engine AE300 turbocharged diesel that runs on jet-A-1 fuel and an ECU single-lever control system.

“Sama Aviation is thrilled to add the DA40 to our fleet,” Dania Alaker, marketing manager at Jazirah Aviation Club, said in a statement. “This aircraft represents a significant step in our commitment to providing top-tier training and a modern flying experience for our students.”

The delivery marks the aircraft’s continued expansion in the Middle East, according to Christian Schmid, Diamond Aircraft sales manager. In December, the manufacturer delivered a six-seater, twin-engine DA62 to a customer in Kuwait.
